Showcasing Cork

Last month saw Cork Convention Bureau (CCB) host a number of groups and buyers showcasing Cork's top attractions and venues. Pictured here at the 5* Hayfield Manor is Seamus Heaney, CCB Chairman, with a Group of Chinese Conference, Event and Incentive Buyers, on a familiarisation trip to Cork. The group went on to visit Jameson’s Old Midleton Distillery, Castlemartyr Resort and the now infamous English Market.

Mr. Shao Qun, Manager of China Space Travel said:

“This is my first time to Cork. It is very cozy and friendly. I’m very impressed by the spectacular landscapes, and the state-of-the-art conference facilities. It’s amazing that Cork is so small but with very big venue options.  As the sister city with Shanghai, there will be more chances for Chinese to visit Cork. I will definitely recommend this destination to my clients.”

CCB also hosted Keynote PCO in June on an educational visit to Cork City & County, Keynote PCO is a specialised conference organiser concentrating on the Association conference market. They are based in Dublin but have organised a number of conferences in Cork such as the Veterinary Ireland Companion Animal Society (VICAS) Annual Conference in the Rochestown Park hotel in 2010.

Siobhan O’ Hare Director of Keynote PCO had this to say about Cork;

“There was a lot more in the city and county to offer than I would have thought so a very worthwhile trip. Venue options are varied and interesting. We hope to work with Cork Convention Bureau in the very near future.”
