In 2018, the EGF was hosted by Teagasc in Cork Ireland. This was the 27th General meeting and offered delegates first hand opportunities to see and experience dairy, beef and sheep production from grassland. Ruminant agriculture in Ireland is a major contributor to the Irish economy and is strongly export based. Irish agriculture prides itself on its green image from high quality produce originating from grazed pasture. The event had a mix of master classes, visits to farms and to the Teagasc Moorepark Research Centre along with many conference papers.
On holding the event in Cork, Conference Ambassador Dr. Deirdre Hennessy said:
“Cork is an ideal location to host a conference with great conference facilities, an excellent range of accommodation for delegates, great food and an excellent cultural experience.”
